Here at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner we provide aspiring lawyers with innovative and tailored ways to enter your legal career. From our unique Legal Apprenticeship programme for school leavers, through to our Training Contract, we provide different routes to becoming a qualified expert with our firm.
A core part of our firm's vision is to provide a better place to work than our competitors; this is not limited to the firm's culture, but also includes the best work, client, career opportunities and development. Central to that is the quality of our training and commitment to continuous learning.
When you start at the firm you will participate in a comprehensive induction programme in our London office, designed to prepare you for practice and to equip you with the practical skills needed to excel as a trainee here.
You will work on real projects from the outset and you will have the opportunity to undertake either a client or international secondment . You will meet with a member of the Emerging Talent team every six months, to discuss your future ambitions and which seat options best meet your long term career aspirations. In addition, you will benefit from having a dedicated mentor to support you throughout your Training Contract.

“When I became a partner in 2006, I wanted to be involved in helping to develop the next generation of young lawyers. Since then, I have enjoyed working with many of our trainees as a supervisor, interviewer, recruiter and mentor. I am proud to have seen a number of those people become partners in the firm.
As the first managing partner of the Manchester office, I have overseen the recruitment of our first trainees, and I am the partner mentor of all of the trainees in the office." – Damian Fleming, Partner
“The legal apprentice role has been a great opportunity. It has allowed me to learn the trade first hand from professionals in the field such as lawyers and paralegals. I have been able to feel what it is like to work in a busy and diverse firm. My team are fantastic and are always there to help. I would recommend joining the apprenticeship scheme to anybody who is serious about Law.”
“Meeting various legal professionals has been brilliant and the opportunity to network with these people as well as fellow students has expanded my contacts and overall provided a solid base for starting Law at University.”
“The apprenticeship programme is an excellent route to qualify as a solicitor, alongside gaining valuable work experience in a highly reputable international law firm. The support and training offered to apprentices has been incredible. I feel very privileged to be doing this apprenticeship and I definitely made the right decision to kick-start my legal career. I would encourage anyone who is serious about a career in Law to consider qualifying through the apprenticeship route.”
“I strongly feel that the programme has given me a unique insight into how law is applied in practice.”
